Void Of Slow #1

My son turns 9 on 3/7 and I have to mentally prepare myself to attack 30 kids in a movie theatre. I love doing stuff like this, I love hanging out with my little bud and all of his friends. It’s so cool getting to watch him grow up and see how he works and hangs out with all of his little buds.

It’s stuff like this that kind of keeps me mentally in balance with all the weird stuff that is going on in our world and especially what the moron in the White House likes to do, when he’s not destroying countries, taking away people’s rights or gorging himself on the latest burger at McDonalds.

I have been doing a lot of work on my record label and skate team as well, as that also really helps keep me in a fairly decent brain space. I also fight with OCD among other brain eating issues, so I tend to change my logo and website around quite a bit (website and logo for my record label.) I always find it interesting how different people react to different websites and logos.

I like to interact with people and get their opinions on the latest look and feel of Give Praise.

I have also been down a pretty radical rabbit hole watching interviews with Ian Mackaye on YouTube. One of his interviews really stuck out – he was talking about how getting older, you have friends that are ‘punk’ in different ways. Maybe they aren’t in bands, or maybe they don’t get too many shows anymore. But how they are still part of the community, they work towards a common ‘punk’ goal. They still contribute to the scene, even though they may not be front and center.

That is very important to me. I have never really been a ‘in your face’ kind of guy. I usually hang back by the merch tables. Now, I rarely even do that. But I feel that Give Praise Records is still a worth while cause, and it is still an important piece of punk history – if ever in my own head.

If you support us, thank you so much. I really enjoying working everyday on the label and, now, the skateboarding team. Keep the praise up.

Now – let’s look at some demos! I always loved reading the ‘Hirax Max’ column in MRR and the Mosh Of Ass newsletter, so in a very small way, I am trying to bring it back. Email me or mail me your demos! I want to check them out!

No Association

‘Mandated Bloodshed’

Single

Fast and angry. The vocals are seriously pissed off. Politics and blood on the ends of the big folks in the Oval Office. Some slower parts, and a few spoken words laid over a solid circular beat. Just when you think it’s over it picks up, with a solid preaching of punk spewing vocals.

T.J. Rossingtonshalls

‘In-Store Execution’ EP

Very much influenced by Spazz, Romantic Gorilla and bands of that ilk. Cookie Monster, smooth squealing and a whole barrage of stop-and-start power blasts. Youth filled power ballads to be enjoyed for many times around the sun.

Fun Control

‘Test Run’

The first song intro kind of starts out like a sidewalk surfing sesh, where you can let your hands do the walking. That leads into a steady beat of noisy punk over radical guitar leads. That pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the tracks. This is the exact recipe for a smooth shred downtown with your friends and some solid noisy hardcore.
